Jurgen Klopp speaks out on Cristiano Ronaldo’s potential red card incident

Jurgen Klopp gave his verdict on Cristiano Ronaldo’s potential red card incident during Liverpool’s weekend showdown at Old Trafford.

Liverpool ran out comfortable victors on their travels away from home on Sunday in what turned out to be a 5-0 scoreline against their arch-rivals Manchester United with Mohamed Salah netting a hat-trick.

United endured a woeful 90 minutes at Old Trafford when playing hosts to Jurgen Klopp’s side and the frustrations got to the heads of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men.

Star man Cristiano Ronaldo was involved in an altercation with Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones with the Portuguese kicking out at the latter which brought players from either side together in a bust-up.

Anthony Taylor, the referee for the derby, showed the yellow card to Ronaldo despite there being calls for the player to be sent off, something which was also hinted at by the Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp in his post-match remarks, as quoted by The Metro.

‘I saw it, of course, in the game and for me it looked like [a red card].

‘But I got told that he hits the ball or whatever, or he didn’t hear the whistle, that’s fine.

‘I don’t want Cristiano Ronaldo to get a red card, it’s not me saying that. For me it looked like [it], but I got convinced, or told at least, that it was not, and that’s fine.’
