Jurgen Klopp has suggested that Liverpool could sign a new midfielder before deadline day amid the injury crisis in the Anfield ranks early on in the new season.

The likes of Thiago Alcantara, Curtis Jones, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and more recently, Naby Keita, have been sidelined with injury troubles, leaving Klopp bereft of quality options to draft in the centre of the park.

A report from The Daily Mirror has quoted the Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp hinting that the Merseysiders could dip into the market for a new recruit to freshen their midfield roster before September 1’s deadline.

“That changed of course.

“I know we have had this discussion since it all started and I am the one who said we don’t need a midfielder and you were all right and I was wrong.

“That’s the situation. There is really nothing more to say about it. We are looking for it, and if it is the right player we need him and if it is not the right player we don’t need him.”

Liverpool have long been linked with a move for the English talent Jude Bellingham only for Borussia Dortmund to remain adamant that the midfielder is not for this summer.

Barcelona’s former Manchester United target Frenkie de Jong has been the latest name on emerge on Liverpool’s transfer radar with the Holland international maestro rumoured to be mulling over joining a Premier League giants.
