Jurgen Klopp will urge the Liverpool FC board to convince wantaway star midfielder Gini Wijnaldum to sign upon improved contract terms as the Dutch international’s future at Anfield beyond next summer remains highly uncertain.
Such news comes through Eurosport reports which claim that Klopp will be gunning for Wijnaldum’s long-term future to be secured in the Liverpool FC colours, with the German coach’s previous efforts proving futile.
The 29-year-old Wijnaldum’s current deal with the Premier League holders expires next summer and the player will be free to talk to potential suitors across Europe from 1st January, as FC Barcelona and Inter Milan target the ex-Newcastle United man on a free transfer.
As Wijnaldum’s stature in Liverpool FC’s first-team ranks continues to be on the rise since the turn of this injury-ridden season for the Merseyside Reds, Jurgen Klopp is understood to be wanting to extend his midfield regular’s stay at Anfield, warding off the likes of Ronald Koeman’s FC Barcelona from intensifying their approach for Wijnaldum.
Klopp is even convinced to offer a massive wage bump to the midfielder as month-long talks continue to drag on heading into the January winter transfer window.
