Lorius Karius signs for German side Union Berlin on a loan move

Loris Karius has signed on for Bundesliga outfit Union Berlin on a season-long loan deal for the 2020-21 season of top-flight football, according to a report published on Liverpool FC’s official website.

The German goalkeeper had been widely tipped to be offloaded by Jurgen Klopp in this summer’s transfer window as Adrian had established himself to be the backup choice to Alisson Becker at Anfield in recent times.

Adrian had started Liverpool FC’s EFL Cup tie victory over Lincoln City last week, a result which turned out to be a 7-2 thrashing of the League One side at the hands of the Reds. The Spanish shot-stopper had ensured a good display on his part between the sticks in that game, which further convinced Klopp to send Karius on a loan move for the duration of the ongoing season.

Karius’s move to Union Berlin will allow the 27-year old to gain guaranteed first-team involvement for the German club. He had just returned to Anfield this summer following the conclusion of his two-year-long stint at Turkish outfit Besiktas.
