Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspurs’ respective starts to the 2020-21 Premier League season shows the quality of football across the country, said Jurgen Klopp when asked how difficult would it be for the Merseysiders to retain their Premier League crown.
Speaking to reporters, as reported by the Daily Mail, ahead of Liverpool FC’s weekend showdown in the Premier League against the struggling basement side Brighton, Klopp admitted that rival clubs have got on to a great start in the ongoing top-flight campaign, making it even more difficult for the Reds to clinch a second successive league title.
Asked whether it will be harder this season for his players, Klopp said simply: ‘Yes’.
‘A lot of quality in these squads. They all played a good season so far. Not surprised Spurs and Chelsea are there.
The Liverpool FC boss was also generous in his praise for Southampton, and Brendan Rodger’s Leicester City, both clubs who have surprised viewers with a great series of results as the Premier League season enters into the tiresome fixture list of December.
‘Southampton look really good, Leicester we know about. A sign it is all close together this season. An interesting season. A lot of chances.’
Klopp’s men were clinical last season in the Premier League, wrapping up the proceedings in a swift manner and bringing league-title winning glory to Anfield for the first time in 30 years.
And despite a strong start to the new season, which sees the Reds sit joining top in the Premier League standings alongside Tottenham Hotspurs, Liverpool FC will have to withhold the danger of other clubs being a major threat over the course of this 38-game campaign.
