Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has admitted that his Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker will be ruled out for a few weeks after he suffered an calf injury on the opening day of the Premier League season against Norwich City.
It was the only gloomy part of the evening on Friday night when after Liverpool beat Norwich City 4-1 to kick start their Premier League campaign.
The rampant Reds were at their brutal best in the first half scoring four goals in under 45 minutes but Klopp had a serious worry at half time considering the fact that his valuable asset Alisson Becker limped off the pitch on 38 minutes after a goal kick.
The 26 year old won the Golden Glove last season and was vital in helping Liverpool win the Champions League title but he was replaced by Adrian on the night.
And Klopp has finally confirmed that his first choice shot stopper Alisson will be out of action for a few weeks, “It’s not too cool, it’s a calf injury which takes Alisson out for a while.”
Klopp went on to explain that Alisson could be sidelined for around six weeks, “I don’t want to make now an exact prognosis on when he will be back – it takes a couple weeks for sure, and we have to see. I saw already like ‘six weeks’ and stuff like this, but Ali was not a lot injured in his career so I would like to wait a little bit to see how he develops in that process now, but he is not in for the next few weeks.”
Alisson arrived from AS Roma in a staggering £60 million deal last summer and has played a vital role in keeping Liverpool’s back line as solid as ever.
