Kostas Tsimikas has voiced frustration over how things have panned out on Merseyside for the Greek full-back who joined Jurgen Klopp’s outfit last summer.
The defender was signed by Liverpool FC from Olympiakos in the summer transfer window of 2020 as a much-needed cover for Andy Robertson and was expected to fill in sporadically for the latter over the course of the 2020-21 campaign.
However, a series of injuries have blighted Tsimikas’ new surroundings in England and the left-back admitted in a recent interview to Liverpool FC’s official website that constant fitness issues have left him infuriated due to lack of first-team involvement.
“Every beginning is difficult,” he said. “The boys and the manager helped me a lot to be directly in the team. It helped me a lot.
“I try also in training to understand what the manager says to me and to be ready as fast as I can.
“From the first moment I love this team. I’m here, 100% fit for every game (coming up) and ready to give my best.
“I work very hard every day to be ready for this day. It was frustrating for me because I was never injured before but now I’m back, I’m strong and ready for this and await it.”
Reports earlier this month had claimed that Jurgen Klopp’s side had received two offers from Tsimikas’ homeland of Greece to offload their new recruit but the Merseysiders had turned down such suggestions as the Premier League holders bear with an injury-depleted backline.
