Liverpool left-back Kostas Tsimikas is ready to prove his worth to Jurgen Klopp ahead of the start of the 2021-22 season with the Greek international a part of Liverpool’s pre-season camp now underway.
Tsimikas arrived on Merseyside in the summer of 2020 to provide some much-needed cover to the first-choice Andy Robertson on the left side of the four-man backline for Liverpool.
However, a spree of injury niggles and COVID-19 severely curtailed Tsimikas’ minutes on the pitch for his new side as he could manage only two outings in Premier League football for Jurgen Klopp’s men.
There had been the recent talk of Liverpool shipping him out on a season-long loan spell with Roberton still very much the first-choice name on the Liverpool teamsheet but it seems as if such rumours have died down pretty quickly with the full-back keen to impress Klopp and the Liverpool fans alike with his showings.
Speaking to the club’s official website as the Reds kicked off their preparations for the upcoming campaign, Tsimikas asserted that despite a difficult first six months at Anfield, he was raring to go in the near future.
“I am very happy to be back with the boys, everything is very good.”
“Training is really hard and really intense, but this will help us a lot for the next games.
“We start with friendly games and we continue working very hard together. The first six months were very difficult for me because I had Covid and two injuries, but the second half of the year was very good and I trained very hard in coming back from the injuries.”“I know I have to challenge the best left-back in the world. This gives me the power to do my work well every day, to continue working hard and to continue to be as good as I can.
“My target for next season is to stay healthy, first of all, and after to play more games and help my team.”
