Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea : Match Report | Premier League 22-23

Liverpool were still left searching for their first league win of the new calendar year as Jurgen Klopp’s men played out a nil-nil stalemate on home soil against Chelsea on Saturday.

MATCH PROCEEDINGS

Chelsea had the ball in the back of the net in the opening minutes of the game through Kai Havertz but VAR deemed him offside in a respite for the Reds.

Gakpo sent a shot flying over the bar after Mohamed Salah’s good work down the right while Alisson Becker was called into action on the other end of the pitch to deny Conor Gallagher’s half-volley.

Both teams went into the break with little to no threats made on the opposition’s goal as Liverpool upped the pressure after the second period got underway.

Keita and Gakpo came close for the Reds but Chelsea’s man off the bench Mykhailo Mudryk instantly threatened with his low strike hitting the side netting of Alisson Becker’s goal.

Alexander-Arnold, who was introduced by Jurgen Klopp in the later stages, volleyed over the bar from inside the area with the ninth vs tenth contest finishing in a goalless draw.
