Liverpool 1-1 Tottenham Hotspurs: Match Report

Liverpool showed great intent in this game after their constant crossing into the box but lacked quality upfront as the Reds only managed to grab a point out of this one.

First Half

The game went as expected, with an end-to-end excitement between the two teams, it was the home side who were disappointed with the chances they missed.

Salah gets a glorious opportunity to open up the scoresheet but his low powerful shot saw Eric Dier and Ben Davies to block combining.

Moments later Van Dijk almost broke the deadlock with an inswinging curler from Andy Robertson which fins the Dutchman’s head who just applies too much power to his header as it flies wide.

The first half did bring the Anfield crowd on the edge of their seat but the team in Red lacked the final touch in Tottenham’s box.

Second Half

Heung-Min Son takes ups the lead in the early stages of the second 45 minutes when Kane drives towards goals before laying it to his left to Sessegnon, who pulls it back to the South Korean to make it 1-0.

Typical of Liverpool who showed sheer courage and fights to get back into the game after the new recruit Luiz Diaz levels the scoreline from a 25-yard strike.

Thiago laid the ball off to Diaz before the Colombian’s shot went in via Bentancur. After leveling the game the Reds looked vulnerable at the back and instead invited pressure at their box rather than going forward.

The Merseyside got lucky not to lose all points into the mix when Emil Hojbjerg failed miserably to score the winner by an open header.
