The home side started the game on the front foot and the fans did not have to wait for long to see their side get the opener with Roberto Firmino teeing up Luis Diaz inside three minutes.

Diaz powered his header from Firmino’s delivery into the box and Liverpool’s advantage on home turf was soon doubled through the young Harvey Elliott who found the back of the net with a superb strike from the edge of the box.

Mo Salah should have added the third for Liverpool with Elliott setting up the former for a simple tap in and it came down to Liverpool’s full-back Arnold to make it 3-0 with a drive into the top corner.

The fourth goal came from the lurking Firmino who produced a clever bit of finishing to ensure that Liverpool showed no signs of easing the dominance on the visitors.

Virgil van Dijk added the fifth from an Andy Robertson corner just before half time with Klopp’s men heading into the break with a 5-goal lead.

Bournemouth defender Mepham piled more misery for his side with the player bundling Arnold’s cross into his own net with Liverpool getting their sixth goal of the afternoon.

Firmino got his second and Liverpool’s seventh and substitute Fabio Carvalho netted his debut goal for Liverpool after Tsimikas teed up the youngster.

Luis Diaz headed in No.9 five minutes before full time with Liverpool equalling the Premier League record for the scoreline.
