Liverpool agree deal with Bayern Munich to sign Ryan Gravenberch

Liverpool are preparing to add another midfielder to their squad, as Bayern Munich star Ryan Gravenberch is on the verge of joining Anfield.

According to The Athletic, Liverpool and Bayern Munich have reached an agreement, with the Reds are set to pay a fixed fee of €40 million for the Dutch midfielder.

Gravenberch is expected to fly to Merseyside tonight and undergo medical tests tomorrow as part of the transfer process.

He is expected to commit to a long-term contract with Liverpool, and the club is eager to finalize the deal before the transfer deadline.

The 21-year-old player is aiming to rejuvenate his once-promising career at Anfield after a challenging year at the Allianz Arena.

He moved to the German champions last summer from Ajax but faced difficulties in securing a regular spot in the first team.

During the previous season, Gravenberch made a total of 33 appearances in various competitions, but he was included in the starting lineup only seven times.

His participation in just three Bundesliga matches led to growing frustration and questions about his future with Bayern Munich.

Initially, the Bundesliga side was hesitant to approve his departure, but they are set to make a significant profit from his imminent transfer. Bayern had paid approximately €18 million to acquire him from Amsterdam just last year.

The highly regarded Dutch player will become Liverpool’s fourth signing of the summer transfer window. This comes after the arrivals of Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, and Wataru Endo.

Gravenberch has seen only nine minutes of action in the top flight this season. However, Jurgen Klopp has admired the young player for a long time and believes in his ability to help him regain his best form.

While Manchester United had shown interest in signing the midfielder, they have decided to prioritize a move for Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

Gravenberch’s impending departure might prompt Bayern to expedite their pursuit of Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha, who has become a key target for Thomas Tuchel’s team.

It’s uncertain whether Bayern can persuade Fulham to reconsider their position on Palhinha’s future, but United’s Scott McTominay is also being considered as an option by the German club.
