Liverpool and Arsenal are set to go head-to-head for Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio who is out of contract at the Los Blancos in the summer of 2023.
The Spain international playmaker’s future in the Real Madrid shirt has been subject to much speculation of late with rumours of a move to the Premier League tipped to be on the cards.
With North Londoners Arsenal long interested in making a move for his services to shore up their ranks, reports from The Daily Express claim that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool will be in line to hand Mikel Arteta’s Gunners stiff competition on that front.
Klopp could find himself in the transfer market this coming summer for reinforcements to add to his midfield options with the Liverpool boss mulling over a replacement for the ageing James Milner who is likely playing his final few months at Anfield.
It is understood that Arsenal and Liverpool have both tabled contract proposals for Asensio to consider with the 26-year-old likely to take a big call on his future sooner rather than later.
