Liverpool Battling Rivals To Sign This Lazio Defender

The Premier League duo of Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are set to rival one another for the signature of Lazio full-back Adam Marusic in the upcoming winter transfer window.

European clubs are preparing their roster for the transfer plans as the January transfer window comes closer and closer with each passing day and it seems like Liverpool and Tottenham will be battling it out for Lazio full-back Adam Marusic over the coming few months.

Liverpool is currently enjoying an unbeaten start to the Premier League campaign sitting 2nd on the Premier League table with 10 games into the season. However, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is aware that he needs to strengthen his whole squad if they are to challenge for the Premiership this season.  And the German boss needs another top quality fullback in case his regular starters are injured.

The Merseyside giants have identified Lazio’s Adam Marusic as their prime target in the winter transfer window but will face competition from Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur. Mauricio Pochettino’s side succumbed to a 1-0 defeat against Premier League champions last night and the Argentine boss is keen on improving his squad defensively and luring in another fullback to slot in.

Lazio purchased Marusic for a fee of just €6.5 million last summer from Belgian club KV Oostende but his value is risen up to around €20 million in the market with his impressive displays. His strong start to this season for the Italian club has attracted interest from even Bundesliga table-toppers Borussia Dortmund.

However, Liverpool is currently front runners to sign Marusic in the winter although it would depend a lot on whether or not Lazio will be willing to allow the 26-year-old talent to leave the club at such a crucial stage.
