Liverpool are mulling over offering Roberto Firmino in a swap deal for Barcelona forward Memphis Depay when the transfer window reopens in January.
Firmino has failed to create an impression on the Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp early on in the new season after speculation over the Brazilian’s future at Anfield had sparked off in the summer.
According to a report from Spanish news outlet Futbol Total ( via The Liverpool Echo), Liverpool could step up their interest in the Holland international Memphis Depay by sending Firmino the other way to Camp Nou.
Both clubs are said to be unwilling to part ways with each player for nothing and a swap deal could be key to striking the agreement as Liverpool look to bring in reinforcements to freshen their misfiring front line.
Liverpool’s marquee summer recruit in Darwin Nunez, who made the move to Anfield from Benfica for a club-record fee, is yet to hit the ground running while talisman Mohamed Salah has had his share of troubles in front of the goal.
