Liverpool not considering allowing Roberto Firmino to leave this summer

Liverpool are not considering allowing Roberto Firmino to leave this summer amid the Brazilian emerging as a priority target for the Serie A heavyweights Juventus.

Firmino has fallen down the pecking order in the Liverpool fold with his recurring injury troubles and the arrivals of Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez fueling speculation over his long-term future at Anfield beyond the transfer window.

According to a claim from The Liverpool Echo, however, it is suggested that Jurgen Klopp’s Merseysiders are not even thinking about parting ways with the 30-year-old Brazil international forward who remains key to Klopp’s plans for the coming season.

Juventus had identified Firmino as a viable alternative to long-standing target Alvaro Morato but the Italians would be forced to shift focus elsewhere with Liverpool and Firmino both keen on the idea of an extension rather than calling it quits.

A recent injury to Diogo Jota during the club’s pre-season tour could open the door for Firmino to cement his berth on the team sheet ahead of the weekend’s Community Shield clash against Premier League champions Manchester City.
