Liverpool centre-back Ben Davies nears loan move to Sheffield United

Ben Davies is believed to be just one step away from heading out the exit door at Anfield this summer to sign for his long-term suitors Sheffield United on loan.

The Liverpool man joined Jurgen Klopp’s camp earlier this year during the January transfer window but a run of injury niggles prevented Davies from making his first-team debut for the Merseysiders.

With Klopp adding to his options at the back this summer by bringing in the highly-rated Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig, Davies’ future at the club became subject to much speculation as Championship outfit Sheffield United eyed him up.

Reports from Sky Sports now claim that The Blades are nearing an agreement with Liverpool over signing the former Preston Noth End defender who will be staging a return to Championship action with the move expected to take place next week.

Sheffield United’s new gaffer Slavisa Jokanovic is understood to have prioritised a swoop for the Anfield outcast in Davies to shore up his backline names ahead of the 2021-22 campaign.
