Injury Update

Liverpool could face a big blow amid Fabinho’s injury problems

Fabinho’s fitness has been updated by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp ahead of the FA Cup final against Chelsea.

Jurgen Klopp believes Fabinho will be fit for the Champions League final, and that Liverpool will be able to survive without him in the meanwhile.

Fabinho limped off half an hour into Liverpool’s thrilling 2-1 Premier League triumph over Aston Villa on Tuesday night, causing a significant injury scare.

Scans have revealed a hamstring injury, putting the Brazilian out for the rest of Liverpool’s domestic campaign, which includes the FA Cup final against Chelsea on Saturday, league games at Southampton on Tuesday, and home games against Wolverhampton Wanderers five days later.

On May 28, Liverpool will play Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Paris. When asked if Fabinho was available on Thursday, he said yes.

“There’s a good chance that he will be available for the Champions League final.”

When he was named to Brazil’s squad for their international triple-header at the start of next month, there was a hint the midfielder – who has started all 12 European games for Liverpool this season – may be in contention for the game at the Stade de France.

Jordan Henderson was impressed as a stand-in for Fabinho at Villa Park, and the skipper is now set to lead Liverpool out at Wembley this Saturday. And Klopp is certain that the Reds will be able to cope without the Brazilian.

“We have to Because we can cope. Having him or not having him is a difference but it is all fine. That’s normal stuff that happens.

“It’s never in a position where you have 12 options, it’s always in a position where you (don’t). We have a few players. Hendo came on and played incredible (at Villa), he has played super games this season at number six so that is not a problem.”

Liverpool’s coach Jurgen Klopp has done a fantastic job in the man-management but has also dealt with protecting his players from any kind of ailments in the hectic run of games.

The Brazilian may be one of the important midfielders in the Reds’ side but the Merseyside has shown in the past that they have quality players in place and there shouldn’t be any problems for the German on Saturday eve.
