Liverpool could gain ground in attempts to land Barcelona midfielder Gavi’s signature with a fresh breakdown in his contract talks at Camp Nou.
According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, differences between the two parties in the negotiations have come to light which should be of much importance to Gavi’s suitors in the transfer market.
Both Liverpool and Manchester City have been rumoured to be keeping close tabs on the Spain international but with City making an approach for the Leeds United man Kalvin Phillips, Gavi’s signing could be prioritised by Liverpool sooner rather than later.
The latest impasse in Gavi’s talks with the Barca camp over renewing his terms could breathe life into Liverpool’s hopes of bringing in the highly-rated midfield talent who has long been a target for Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.
Klopp’s hunt for reinforcements in midfield is yet to give his side a new signing to fill the void left by the exit of the long-serving Gini Wijnaldum who signed for Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2021 on a free transfer.
