Liverpool could still have a chance to sign Bayern Munich star Benjamin Pavard

Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard is seeking a club that will allow him to play in his preferred centre-back position as he looks to leave the German club this summer.

German publication Kicker reports that as of now, no club has made an approach to Bayern for Pavard, and he is expected to report back for pre-season training in the upcoming weeks.

With one year remaining on his contract, Pavard has expressed his desire to seek a new challenge in England, Italy, or Spain. Liverpool have been mentioned as a potential destination in some reports.

It has been reported by multiple sources that Pavard has desired to leave Bayern for several months, even before the appointment of Thomas Tuchel as Julian Nagelsmann’s successor.

In a column for Caught Offside, German journalist Christian Falk dismissed rumours suggesting that the French international had turned down a move to Liverpool from Bayern.

Bayern Munich have set an asking price of approximately £25-30 million for Benjamin Pavard.

During this summer transfer window, Liverpool have primarily focused on strengthening their midfield, having completed deals for Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai with a combined cost of £95 million.

However, there are indications that the Reds are also considering potential options for centre-back signings, particularly in light of Jurgen Klopp’s recent switch to a back-three system towards the end of the previous season.

Contrary to the reports, we believe that the Reds could still look for a versatile defender and Pavard fits the bill perfectly. He could hit the ground running at Anfield due to his vast experience.

Klopp could get the better of him if the club decides to seal the deal for a bargain fee.
