Liverpool credited with an interest in Real Madrid playmaker Marco Asensio

Liverpool are credited with an interest in Real Madrid playmaker Marco Asensio who has previously been linked with a move to Merseyside.

Jurgen Klopp remains on the search for a viable option to add to his midfield ranks ahead of the upcoming January transfer window in which the Liverpool boss is expected to ring in changes from the market.

According to a report from the Spanish news outlet Fichajes, it is claimed that the Reds are keen on the Real Madrid first-teamer and are making efforts to prise him from the Santiago Bernabeu sooner rather than later.

The 26-year-old Asensio, who has impressed for Spain at the World Cup in Qatar, is said to be disappointed with his lack of regular game time under Carlo Ancelotti at the Bernabeu with his future in the Real shirt subject to much speculation.

Asensio had been courted by the likes of AC Milan and Arsenal in the summer but the attacker ended up staying put in the Spanish capital city in the hope of earning first-team football for the European champions Real.
