Liverpool defender Ben Davies completes permanent move to Rangers

Liverpool defender Ben Davies has completed his permanent move to Rangers with the SPL giants snapping up the 26-year-old centre-back on a long-term contract.

Davies signed for Jurgen Klopp’s Reds in January 2021 during the injury crisis in the Anfield ranks but the former Preston North End never made the senior side XI despite being named on the bench eight times in the second half of the 2020-21 campaign.

He was shipped out on loan to Sheffield United last term and his return to the Liverpool fold this summer came amid rumours that Klopp was open to cashing on the Englishman with Rangers emerging the winners for his signature.

Official confirmation was sounded out by Liverpool’s club website with the defender set to pen to paper on a four-year deal with the Scottish heavyweights who would fork out an initial payment of £3 million with a further £1 million in add-ons.

Rangers bring in the Liverpool first-team outcast as a direct replacement for the outgoing Calvin Bassey with Ajax completing a transfer running north of £20 million to sign the youngster from the Ibrox camp.
