Ben Davies is set to stay put at Anfield and compete for a spot in Jurgen Klopp’s first-team camp heading into the commencement of the 2021-22 campaign which kicks off in mid-August.
Davies had been linked with a move away from Liverpool just six months into his joining the Merseysiders from Preston North End with Scottish outfit Celtic emerging the suitors for signature.
Having arrived at Anfield in the final hours of the January transfer window earlier this year, Davies is yet to make his debut in the colours of Liverpool with injuries curtailing his time on the pitch ever since his transfer from the Championship to the Premier League giants.
Ibrahima Konate’s much-hyped signing this summer for Liverpool had further added to speculation that the 25-year-old Davies will ask for a move away from Liverpool to ensure regular minutes on the pitch but reports from The Mirror claim that the centre-back is keen on committing his future to Klopp’s side.
Celtic and Championship club AFC Bournemouth had shown interest in signing Davies on a season-long loan spell but both teams will need to look elsewhere for alternative names to shore up their defensive options in light of Davies’ decision to stay on Merseyside.
