Liverpool gain ground in attempts to sign Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma

Liverpool and Arsenal have been handed a surprise boost on the transfer front for Brighton’s in-demand Yves Bissouma with the Seagulls looking to bring in RB Salzburg midfielder Enock Mwepu as a replacement for the former, claim reports from The Express.

Bissouma has been heavily linked with a move away from Brighton in this summer’s transfer window on the back of his superb showings in the centre of the park for Graham Potter’s men last season.

The Mali international has been courted by both Liverpool and Arsenal, the former of whom are on the hunt for a new midfield man to take up Gini Wijnaldum’s vacancy which was created since his move to French giants Paris Saint-Germain.

Wijnaldum’s departure has left Jurgen Klopp one man short in his midfield department which has the injury-prone duo of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita besides the ageing presence of James Milner, factors which have convinced the Liverpool boss on shelling out the cash on a new signing.

Bissouma’s experience of Premier League football coupled with his standout showings across the 2020-21 season has made him a hot favourite to arrive at Anfield this summer should Brighton not play hard ball on his exit to Merseyside.
