Liverpool have been given an exorbitant €80 million price tag for landing the signature of a longstanding target in Pedro Goncalves.
The Sporting Lisbon midfield maestro has earned rave reviews for his showings in the Portuguese top flight and a move to the Premier League is rumoured to be on the cards for the 23-year-old.
Reports from Record ( via Sports Witness), however, claim that Sporting are looking for an €80 million payout for parting ways with the midfielder tied to the club until 2026 after penning a new deal with a wage bump.
Jurgen Klopp has been backed to bring in reinforcements for his midfield department sooner rather than later following Gini Wijnaldum’s exit from the Anfield fold this summer and Goncalves is one name tipped to be on the shopping list.
Injuries to his midfield regulars Naby Keita, Thiago Alcantara and Curtis Jones early on in this new campaign has further added to Klopp’s woes which could fast-track his plans of signing a fresh face, according to the rumour mill.
