Liverpool handed major injury boost for the weekend

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool has been given a massive boost ahead of their clash against Huddersfield Town on the weekend following injury scares.

The Anfield faithful were in disbelief of their luck when just a few days ago a number of first team players picked up injuries during the international friendlies. Virgil Van Dijk and Mohamed Salah left their respective international camps earlier than scheduled to nurse their injuries while Sadio Mane suffered a broken thumb during a training session with his Senegal national side. Even Naby Keita limped off during a game at Guinea with a potential hamstring injury which added to Jurgen Klopp’s woes.

Liverpool was sweating on the fitness of their prime superstars regarding the seriousness of those problems. However, a few of those frowns turned into smiles later on Thursday as a few of those concerned players trained at Melwood.

During a training session on Thursday, Liverpool centre-back Virgil Van Dijk was seen along with Egyptian superstar Mohamed Salah as the duo trained for the first time since picking up their knocks. This meant that Van Dijk and Salah could potentially be fit enough to start against David Wagner’s Huddersfield on Saturday.

Salah was seen in high spirits sporting a grin during a late- afternoon run out at Merseyside while Van Dijk was pictured joking with his central defensive partner Jose Gomez as he was jogging through a warm-up.

The Terriers are still without a win in the Premier League this season and Liverpool want to make sure that they get back on track to winning ways away from home. Liverpool is currently unbeaten in the Premier League and sits in third place the joint top of the league on points with Manchester City and Chelsea.
