Liverpool hoping to offer lifeline to Real Madrid outcast Marco Asensio

Liverpool are hoping to offer a lifeline to Real Madrid outcast Marco Asensio who has fallen down the pecking order at the Bernabeu and could be set for a move elsewhere in the next summer window.

Jurgen Klopp’s Merseysiders were minor players in the transfer market this time around with Ibrahima Konate’s acquisition from RB Leipzig the sole incoming at Anfield despite a number of departures.

Reports from Todo Fichajes claim that Klopp and Liverpool could be busier come next summer and the German coach will be looking to pursue some of the top names on his shopping list which includes the Spain international Asensio.

The 25-year-old playmaker has been linked with an exit from the Real Madrid fold in recent times and a move to the Premier League could be enticing for the player should Liverpool make a formal approach for his signature.

A swoop in the forthcoming January transfer window could be on the cards too but it is understood that Carlo Ancelotti, the new Real Madrid manager, will be more willing to sanction Asensio’s sale to Anfield at the end of the campaign.
