According to Pete O’Rourke of the Football Insider, Liverpool are reportedly in a favourable position to secure the signing of Torino centre-back Perr Schuurs in a £30 million deal.
Jurgen Klopp is keen to reinforce his defence, particularly seeking a left-sided centre-back to complement the existing options like Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konaté, Joel Matip, and Joe Gomez.
While Liverpool have been linked to several defenders this summer, including Micky van de Ven, Levi Colwill, and Goncalo Inacio, the first two have made moves elsewhere (Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea, respectively).
Football Insider suggests that Schuurs remains on Liverpool’s radar as a more cost-effective option, with Torino open to negotiations if a £30 million offer is tabled.

Schuurs is highly regarded as one of Serie A’s top young centre-backs, having impressed with his performances at Torino.
The Dutch defender, who made the move to Italy from Ajax last summer, has gained popularity among the fans at Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino.
During the past season, Schuurs made 34 appearances across all competitions for Torino, scoring once and providing three assists, contributing to their 10th-place finish in Serie A. He was also recently in action for Torino in their Coppa Italia first-round victory over Feralpisalò.
Virgil Van Dijk has a high regard for Schuurs’ talent. During his time at Ajax, Schuurs played a key role in the team’s success, including three Eredivisie titles, two Dutch Cups, and the Johan Cruyff Shield.

The defender still has three years left on his contract, with an option to extend it for an additional 12 months, so Torino is not under any pressure to sell at a low price.
While Liverpool’s main focus this summer is strengthening their midfield, Klopp is also keen to reinforce the defence this summer.
