Liverpool are headed for a three-way contest to sign a former Anfield hero in Philippe Coutinho who is keen on a return to the Premier League.
Coutinho’s underwhelming stint at FC Barcelona has convinced the Catalan giants to ship the Brazil international playmaker out in the January transfer window which is now underway.
Despite earlier speculation that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side will not be in the fray for the ex-Reds star attacker, reports from Goal have credited the Merseysiders with a strong interest in landing Coutinho’s signature.
The likes of Aston Villa and Everton are also involved in the chase for the Brazilian who is understood to be wanting a move back to England’s top flight and get his career back on track rather than a return to his homeland.
With Klopp losing both Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane to the African Cup of Nations following the 2-2 Chelsea draw, the Liverpool manager could be lured into dipping into the market to bring in much-needed reinforcements for his roster.
