Liverpool issue update on Harvey Elliott’s ankle injury against Leeds United

Liverpool issued an update on Harvey Elliott’s ankle injury against Leeds United with the 18-year-old taken off the pitch on a stretcher.

Elliott clashed with Leeds United central defender Pascal Struijk around the hour mark in Liverpool’s outing at Elland Road over the weekend which finished in a 3-0 win for Jurgen Klopp’s men.

According to the statement put out on the club’s official website, Liverpool have confirmed that Elliott has been discharged from the hospital and the teenager will be requiring surgery on his ankle in the coming days.

Liverpool are in line to miss their young talent for a number of months, according to the rumour mill, with Elliott’s forthcoming surgery likely to be followed up by a rehabilitation programme.

The former Blackburn Rovers loanee had been handed three consecutive games on the starting teamsheet in a rather unusual role for him in the centre of the park with Jurgen Klopp short on midfield options.
