Liverpool have reportedly joined the race to sign Sporting CP midfielder Manuel Ugarte who is already on the radars of Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United.
According to a report from the Portugal newspaper O Jogo, Liverpool are amongst a host of teams who have thrown their hat in the ring to move in for the Sporting player.
The Reds are desperate to reinforce their midfield ranks over the summer with Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Arthur Melo and James Milner – the latter being linked with a move to Brighton – all set to leave upon the expiry of their contracts.
Recent reports have suggested that Liverpool have cooled off their interest in signing long standing target Jude Bellingham with the England midfielder deemed too expensive a summer recruit for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
The Uruguay international Manuel Ugarte is expected to come for a cheaper price tag and with Liverpool out to bring in at least two new faces for their engine room, Ugarte could be one of the top names on Klopp’s summer wishlist.
