The Reds are in talks with Portuguese giants FC Porto for their star midfield player Otavio with Jurgen Klopp in the market for a replacement to take up Gini Wijnaldum’s vacancy in the centre of the park.
Wijnaldum’s move to Ligue 1 heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain means that Klopp is now one influential man short in his midfield department which has linked the Liverpool boss with moves for Brighton’s Yves Bissouma and Germany international Florian Neuhaus.
Portuguese outlet A Bola claims that Porto first-teamer Otavio is a top name on Klopp’s wishlist for this summer’s transfer window and the Brazillian could be made available for Liverpool courtesy of his £34 million worth release clause.
There is additional speculation in the report that Liverpool are weighing up adding Marko Grujic as a makeweight in their offer for Otavio considering the former is a name that has been eyed up by FC Porto this summer.
Grujic is not backed to have a future at Anfield ahead of the next season’s start and Porto’s strong interest in the Serbian international makes the youngster a crucial part of Liverpool’s potential offer for their new midfield target.
