Liverpool lodge £34.5 million worth opening bid for top target Saul Niguez

Liverpool have reportedly tabled a £34.5 million worth opening bid for top target Saul Niguez with the Spanish international key to the club’s transfer plans for the ongoing summer window.

Reports from Sport claim that Jurgen Klopp’s side have made the first move in their approach to bring in the Atletico Madrid man who has been heavily backed to call it quits at the Vicente Calderón Stadium ahead of the new season’s commencement.

Saul has his suitors in Liverpool and FC Barcelona but the former seems to have jumped ahead in the race to sign the 26-year-old midfield man with the Catalan giants yet to overcome major issues on the financial front.

It is believed that should Atletico Madrid not be open to accepting Liverpool’s initial offer for Saul, Jurgen Klopp will be ready to sweeten his side’s bid by including the likes of Xherdan Shaqiri and Jordan Henderson, both of whom face uncertain futures at Anfield beyond this summer.

Henderson’s contract extension talks on Merseyside have taken the turn for the worst with the Liverpool’s midfield general and skipper now linked with a move away from the club before the forthcoming campaign gets underway.
