Liverpool look to remain on the hunt for Leipzig man Konate

Liverpool FC could be dealt with another blow on the transfer front heading into the summer window as RB Leipzig’s wantaway defensive star Ibrahima Konate courts interest from a number of clubs across England.

According to reports from the Sunday World, Konate remains a top target for the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United besides Jurgen Klopp’s outfit.

The Merseysiders are understood to be quite keen on making a move for the in-demand Frenchman in the close season transfer window, with Klopp wanting to add to his injury-depleted defensive options at Anfield.

Konate has emerged as a real shining presence at the back for the Bundesliga side over the course of the ongoing German top-flight season and just days after his defensive partner Dayot Upamecano reportedly agreed to a move to Bayern Munich, the 21-year-old himself is linked with an exit come the summer.

Speculation suggests that it is Manchester United who remain the frontrunners to nab Konate’s signature ahead of Chelsea and the Reds, setting the stage for an epic bidding war should either of the teams maintain their scrutiny of bolstering their defensive ranks.
