Duje Caleta-Car had seen his dream move to Liverpool collapsed earlier this year in the January transfer window with the Croatian defender’s side Marseille not approving his sale as the Reds came calling.
Liverpool instead signed Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies in the final hours on deadline-day with Jurgen Klopp having a host of injury issues ravaging his Anfield camp as Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip remained sidelined for the remainder of this past campaign.
But with the Merseysiders now assured of a Champions League berth in the upcoming season, Klopp has set his sights on bolstering his defensive line which gained ground when Liverpool announced the signing of Ibrahima Konate on a five-year-long deal.
Reports from Express now suggest that the Reds are planning to dip into the transfer market once again, this time for the 24-year-old Caleta-Car, who is in line to be sold by the cash-strapped Marseille outfit.
A transfer fee in the region of £13 million can do the trick for Jurgen Klopp and Co. giving rise to speculation that the Reds can pull off a cut-price deal for a highly-promising defensive name in European football.
