Liverpool maintain ‘geniune’ interest in signing long-term target Ben White

Long-term target Ben White is still on Liverpool FC’s radar heading into the January window, claims reports from the Express, despite Jurgen Klopp’s recent comments undermining any potential business expected from the Merseysiders this month.

The 22-year-old Brighton first-teamer has been long linked with a move to Anfield and with the injury crisis plaguing Liverpool FC’s backline continuing to intensify since the turn of the campaign, White’s name is one which Klopp’s side would seek to add to their impressive star-studded lineup.

In light of Joel Matip’s recurring fitness problems, and the slotting of the midfield duo of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho at centre-back, the Anfield outfit will target a concrete approach for White in the coming months.

He has been speculated to be on Liverpool FC’s shortlist since last summer, having seen a move to Leeds United collapse following his return to Brighton after a plaudit worthy season-long loan spell at Elland Road.

Any fresh arrivals at Anfield seem unlikely for the time being but the Michael Edwards-led transfer committee is planning to launch a bid for the Brighton central defender during the summer window.
