Liverpool midfielder Stefan Bajcetic has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with an injury which kept him out of Wednesday’s second leg contest against Real Madrid.
Bajcetic, who turned 18 in October last year, has been one of the most influential performers for Liverpool in a disappointing season for Jurgen Klopp’s men who are facing a tough battle to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
In his social media post ( via Goal), Bajcetic confirmed that his injury setback would sideline him for what remains of the 2022-23 campaign and he will not be adding to the 19 appearances under his belt across all competitions this term.
“Unfortunately I’ve picked up an injury that will keep me out until the end of the season. It’s very sad to say goodbye to this amazing season for me but I understand this is part of football and will only make me stronger physically and mentally. I would also like to say thank you to you reds for all the support through the season and I assure you I will do my best to be back stronger than ever.”
Liverpool’s injury crisis in midfield has been a big worry for the boss Jurgen Klopp who was unable to call upon the services of both Bajcetic and his skipper Jordan Henderson for the 1-0 defeat to Real Madrid on Wednesday night.
Spanish maestro Thiago Alcantara has been a long-term absentee due to injury and Klopp has been urged by many to priortise signing a new midfielder for his squad over the summer.
