Liverpool Offer Bid For ‘Spanish Messi’

According to the latest reports, Liverpool has made a shocking offer for Athletic Bilbao to sign their star attacker Iker Muniain.

Liverpool currently sits on 2nd place in the Premier League table but joint top with Manchester City on points. But Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is aware that it will be a long and difficult season, therefore, he may need to re-enforce his squad in the winter transfer window.

Despite having made major transfer recruitments over the summer transfer window by bringing in the likes of Alisson Becker, Fabinho, Naby Keita and Xherdan Shaqiri, Liverpool are still looking for that missing in midfield. The Merseyside outfit missed out on their prime target Nabil Fekir and wants that extra dynamism in attack to provide passes to their attackers.

The latest report from Spanish outlet Marca claims that a host of top clubs in Europe are on the lookout for Athletic Bilbao forward Iker Muniain. The 25-year old’s contract with the Spanish outfit expires at the end of this summer and Muniain is also keen on a move away from the San Mames Stadium.

The two major clubs interested in signing Muniain on a free transfer in the summer transfer window include Napoli and Liverpool. Both clubs have reportedly made an offer to Bilbao as they plan on competing for domestic and European glory.

Liverpool will look at Munian as an alternative to Fekir, as he is dubbed the ‘Spanish Messi’ due to his quick movement and ability to play that killer passes in the attacking third. Munian has spent nine and a half seasons at Bilbao and netted 51 times for his boyhood club.

After the Fekir deal fell through, Liverpool still needed that spark in midfield and Munian could provide that for the Reds. Luring him to Anfield will be the key as plenty of clubs will battle for his signature even in the winter transfer window.
