Liverpool open to sending Nat Phillips on a second loan spell to Bournemouth

Liverpool are now open to sending Nat Phillips out on a second loan spell to Bournemouth with Jurgen Klopp making a rare U-turn on the transfer front, according to a report from The Daily Mirror.

The German coach had been ready to cash in on the 25-year-old central defender in this summer’s transfer window on the back of Phillips impressing during a successful six-month stint with Bournemouth.

His showings at the back proved to be of much importance to the Cherries who secured promotion to the top flight and are credited with a strong interest in re-signing the Liverpool centre-back heading into the new campaign.

Klopp is now of the belief that Phillips could emerge as a long-term replacement for Joel Matip and to ensure regular first-team opportunities for the former, another loan stint with the south-coast club Bournemouth could well be on the cards.

The arrival of Ibrahima Konate has made the new recruit the back-up option in the centre-back role for Liverpool behind Virgil van Dijk and Matip but Phillips would be hoping to make a name for himself in the forthcoming years.
