Liverpool planning contract renewal talks with star forward Diogo Jota

Liverpool are said to be planning contract renewal talks with star forward Diogo Jota with Jurgen Klopp eager to tie him down to a new deal on Merseyside this summer.

The Anfield giants have made sure that the likes of Mohamed Salah and Joe Gomez put pen to paper on extended terms over the course of the pre-season break and it appears likely that Jota will follow suit.

According to a report from The Liverpool Echo, the Portugal international, who joined Jurgen Klopp’s Reds in the summer of 2020 from Wolves, could potentially be in line for an improved deal which would fetch him more than his current £90,000 per week wages.

Jota still has three years left to run on his current terms at Anfield with the 25-year-old Portuguese emerging as a key player in the forward lineup for Klopp just two summers into his Liverpool move.

Sadio Mane heading out the exit door this summer to sign for Bayern Munich could prove to be Jota’s moment to shine and cement a regular berth on the team sheet ahead of new boy Darwin Nunez.
