Liverpool reach an agreement with PSV Eindhoven to sign Cody Gakpo this January

Liverpool have reached an agreement with PSV Eindhoven to sign Dutch forward Cody Gakpo in the upcoming January transfer window.

Gakpo had emerged as one of the coveted names in the market following his stellar run of displays for both club and country this past year which had the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea eye up a move for his signature.

However, it is Jurgen Klopp’s Merseysiders who appear set to land the Holland international in an initial £37 million deal with a further £13 million in add-ons, confirmed the transfer guru Fabrizio Romano in his recent tweet.

The 23-year-old Gakpo impressed for the Orange during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar where he scored thrice in his nationa’s run to the last eight of the competition before they were knocked out by the eventual champions Argentina.

Liverpool prioritizing a move for Gakpo could be seen as Jurgen Klopp’s need to add to his attacking ranks with Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz sidelined until after the New Year while summer signing Darwin Nunez fails to impress in front of the goal.
