Liverpool receive major boost in attempts to sign Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio

Liverpool have reportedly received a major boost in their attempts to sign Real Madrid playmaking talent Marco Asensio this coming summer.

The Spain international has long been linked with a move to Anfield with the Reds manager Jurgen Klopp keen on prizing away Asensio from the Real Madrid fold to shore up his attacking options in the Liverpool ranks.

Asensio’s fall down the pecking order at the Santiago Bernabeu of late has only added to the speculation that the Spaniard is close to the exit door with Carlo Ancelotti open to entertaining offers for the player come the end of the season.

In a welcome boost on the transfer front for Liverpool and Asensio’s other suitors in the market, a report from El Nacional has claimed that Real Madrid’s talks with Asensio over a new deal have hit a roadblock with the 26-year-old likely to leave before 2023.

Real are understood to be unwilling to match the salary demands put forward by Asensio and his camp with Liverpool and Arsenal in line to table a formal approach for the attacker in light of recent developments.
