English football icon Rio Ferdinand has termed Thiago Alcantara to be the missing piece of the puzzle at Liverpool FC. The Bayern Munich star has been constantly linked with a move to Anfield this summer following rumors over the last couple of months.
Thiago was a major presence in the Bayern squad that secured a 4-1 thrashing of Chelsea in the Champions League over the weekend. The 29-year old midfielder set a creative benchmark with his performance against the Blues.
Thiago’s stature within world football has been on the rise following his move to Germany seven years ago from FC Barcelona. A product of the Spanish club’s famed ‘La Masia’ academy, the 29-year old’s midfield skills are arguably his strongest suit.
Moreover, the Spanish international’s creativity in the center of the park is certainly something Jurgen Klopp’s side could benefit from if the player does end up moving to Anfield. The Premier League champions are lacking a creative force in midfield ever since the departure of former talisman Philippe Coutinho.

Ferdinand’s heaped praise on Thiago’s ability as a footballer, with the former Manchester United defender stating that a player of the Spaniard’s caliber was currently missing from the Merseyside club’s ranks.
‘He is an intelligent player and speaks the language which is an important part of it.
‘He would be a dream for Liverpool, he is the type of player they haven’t got.’
However, despite the player himself being eager on securing a move to Liverpool FC, the club has been unable to finalize Thiago’s signing so far this summer. Bayern Munich are believed to be sticking to their €30m valuation for the Spanish international. The Reds, however, are willing to meet only a €20m worth transfer fee for the 29-year old.
