Liverpool sensation Dominic Corness completes loan move to Yverdon Sport

As stated by the club’s official website, Liverpool’s young talent, Dominic Corness, is set to experience his first taste of senior football on loan in Switzerland. He has completed his loan move to Yverdon Sport.

The 20-year-old has been with the club since he was five years old and has progressed through the ranks, establishing himself as a regular member of the under-21s team. This move makes him the ninth Liverpool player to go on loan for the 2023/24 season.

Corness, who served as captain under Barry Lewtas in the second half of last season, is embarking on his first loan move to gain valuable experience in senior football.

He has joined Yverdon in the Swiss Super League, a team that was promoted as champions from the second tier last season. Yverdon’s new season begins soon, with a match against FC Zurich on July 23.

Corness will need some time to adjust to a new country and establish his place in the squad, but the hope is that he will receive regular playing time with the first team during his loan spell.

This move is seen as an important step in his development as a promising young talent from Liverpool’s ranks.

Corness becomes the ninth Liverpool player to be sent out on loan this summer, joining the ranks of Sepp van den Berg (Mainz), Fabio Carvalho (Leipzig), and Calvin Ramsay (Preston).

The young English midfielder showcased his talents with 25 appearances for Barry Lewtas’ young Reds last season, featuring in almost every match in the UEFA Youth League.

As a deep-lying midfielder, Corness impresses with his composure on the ball and poses a threat during set-pieces, earning him the nickname ‘the Wand’ for his left foot.
