Liverpool set to enter talks with the representatives of Cody Gakpo

Liverpool are said to enter into discussions with the representatives of Cody Gakpo with the Reds hoping to fend off the competition to sign the Dutchman.

Manchester United had been one of the first clubs in the Premier League to register an interest in Gakpo who has been impressive for the Oranje in the ongoing World Cup in Qatar with three goals to his name in as many outings.

According to a report from the Dutch outlet Voetbal International, it is claimed that his suitors in the transfer market will be forced to shell out a fee north of €50 million to land Gakpo’s signature ahead of summer 2023.

The 23-year-old has netted nine goals and provided 12 assists in 14 Eredivisie appearances so far this campaign and his performances for club and country have made him a name on several club’s wishlist.

Jurgen Klopp could be seen tinkering around with his front line options in wake of long-term injuries to Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz and rumours have suggested that Gakpo has caught the eye of the Liverpool boss.
