Liverpool set to miss two key centre-backs against PL foes Aston Villa

Liverpool will be without Ibrahima Konate for their upcoming Premier League match against Aston Villa due to an injury, as revealed by manager Jurgen Klopp.

The French centre-back is dealing with a muscle problem that also caused him to miss the previous weekend’s game against Newcastle United.

Liverpool will also have to cope without their captain, Virgil van Dijk, for the upcoming match against Aston Villa at Anfield.

The captain received a red card for a foul on Alexander Isak during the game against Newcastle, which renders him unavailable for the key match on Sunday.

The Reds will need to deal with the absence of two crucial centre-backs and will hope that they will be quickly available after the International break.

“No, Ibou will not be ready for the game. All the rest, until now, are available.”

Joe Gomez and Joel Matip are expected to pair at the heart of the defence, with Trent Alexander Arnold likely to hold the captain’s armband in Van Dijk’s absence.

Andy Robertson will complete the back four against Aston Villa. The Reds will need to be careful of Unai Emery’s side who have signed quality players this summer.
