Liverpool FC are planning to make an eleventh-hour move for transfer target Thiago Alcantara despite being the frontrunners to sign the Bayern Munich star all summer.
The 29-year old has outlined his intention of joining Jurgen Klopp’s Premier League title-winning squad to Bayern’s top management, who has tried their level best to tie down the Spaniard to an improved long-term contract extension.
It is believed that Liverpool FC’s idea of waiting till the end of the ongoing transfer window, which concludes on 4th October, to make a concrete approach for Thiago rests upon getting the best possible deal for the in-demand midfielder.
Arch-rivals Manchester United also remain in the fray to land the ex-FC Barcelona man’s signature, however, Donny van de Beek’s addition to the Old Trafford outfit has led to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer cooling down his interest in contacting Bayern over Thiago’s availability.
A €30 million price-tag being demanded by the Bundesliga giants for sanctioning Thiago’s sale has also caused unrest within the Reds’ top management. Failure to meet the pricing demands could result in Liverpool FC’s inability to land their coveted target’s signing heading into the 2020-21 season.
