Liverpool star Fabinho optimistic over return from injury

Liverpool FC’s first-team regular Fabinho has voiced hopes of returning to the fold at Anfield as early as possible amid Jurgen Klopp’s side suffering a devastating blow to their title-defence campaign with a loss to Brighton earlier this week.

The Brazillian international has been forced to miss the last three games for the Merseyside Reds owing to an injury and his absence has cost Klopp’s men dearly in terms of their performances on the pitch.

In an interview to Liverpool FC’s official website, as quoted by Liverpool Echo, the 26-year-old midfielder explained his injury situation in detail, which he said was recovering in a swift manner as he remained optimistic on staging a return to first-team football very soon.

“I had a slight discomfort in training so we decided that I shouldn’t play against Tottenham or West Ham.

“But I started undergoing my recovery straightaway and I’m feeling a lot better than I was at the start of last week and hopefully I’ll have the opportunity to come back for these games we have coming up.

“We’re not exactly sure how long I will be out but I’m working hard to be back playing as soon as possible.”

Fabinho’s role in the Reds shirt since the turn of the top-flight campaign has seen a major change, with the ex-AS Monaco man being slotted in at centre-back as a makeshift option due to the season-long injury-causing absence of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez.

However, the recent arrivals of Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies on deadline-day for the Merseysiders could mean that Klopp would be lured to shift his star midfield presence back into the centre of the park over the remainder of the season.
