Injury Update

Liverpool striker Diogo Jota may not be available for selection until February

Liverpool striker Diogo Jota may not be available for selection until February in a blow to the manager Jurgen Klopp on the squad selection front.

The Portuguese forward had picked up a severe calf injury in the 1-0 win over Liverpool’s arch-rivals Manchester City back in October which sidelined him from the World Cup in Qatar to his dismay.

According to a report from The Atheltic, it is claimed that Jota is not expected to return to the Liverpool fold anytime before February despite being included in the 33-man squad for the warm-weather training camp in Dubai.

The recent development on Jota’s injury comes on the back of the same report claiming that Luis Diaz was nearing his return to full team training and could be available for selection when Liverpool take on Manchester City come December 22.

Jurgen Klopp’s Merseysiders will lock horns with the Etihad giants in the Carabao Cup showdown before resuming their Premier League campaign on Boxing Day against Aston Villa.
