Liverpool target Sofyan Amrabat admires playing in the Premier League

Sofyan Amrabat has responded to speculation linking him with Premier League clubs, namely Liverpool and Manchester United.

The Fiorentina midfielder has indicated his openness to a potential move to England. Additionally, Barcelona is also reportedly interested in the 26-year-old.

Amrabat’s impressive performances for Fiorentina and his notable contributions to the Moroccan national team during the 2022 FIFA World Cup have elevated his status as a highly sought-after midfielder in the past year.

The midfielder played a crucial role in Morocco’s historic achievement of becoming the first African team to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup.

During his time at Fiorentina, the 26-year-old has accumulated 106 appearances, contributing with one goal and one assist. His impressive progress has garnered interest from several prominent clubs, including Barcelona, Liverpool, and Manchester United.

As stated by the Daily Mail, Amrabat was asked about the potential links to the Premier League for which he said:

“Of course, the Premier League is a fantastic league, one of the strongest in the world. It would be nice to play there one day, but it’s not that I want only to go to England, because Spain is nice, Serie A is a nice league.”

“Football has changed a lot, it’s more physical, you have more to be an athlete, the tempo and intensity is higher. Of course, in England the intensity is very high, so I think it could suit me.”

Barcelona made attempts to secure the midfielder’s signature in the previous January transfer window, although a deal did not materialize at that time.

However, the Catalan giants remain keen on acquiring the services of the Fiorentina midfielder, considering him a priority target as they seek a long-term successor for Sergio Busquets.

Liverpool is in need of multiple new midfielders for the upcoming 2023/24 season, as they have lost three players on free transfers and some others had underwhelming performances in the previous season.

Amrabat has emerged as a potential target for Liverpool to bolster their midfield options. However, Barcelona’s interest in the African star adds an intriguing dimension to the situation, as it remains to be seen if they can sway his decision despite the links with Liverpool and Manchester United.

The competition for Amrabat’s signature could make the transfer saga an interesting one to follow.
